Washington (CNN) President Barack Obama's approval rating is at its lowest point in eight years, according to a new CNN/ORC poll out Thursday.
The poll released Thursday says that Obama's approval rating is at 41%, down 6 points from last month, a seven-year low.
Obama's approval rating dropped after one of the worst years of his presidency, according to the poll.
Among the key reasons Obama's approval rating is so low: 85% of those polled say they disapprove of the president's handling of the economy, 69% disapprove of the job he's doing on the environment and 57% disapprove of the way he's handled the job in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Half of those polled blame the economy on Obama, while 30% blame the recent downgrade in the nation's credit rating on the White House.
